The Permanent Committee for Technical Activities (PCTA) provides the platform for the various technical working groups and task forces categorized under four ‘Strategy Themes’ – Basin, Schemes, On-Farm, and Knowledge, to interact with each other to discuss their outcomes to ensure synergetic outputs.
ICID’s main activity is to promote knowledge sharing, create and develop resources for the betterment of the water management sector; specifically in the areas of irrigation, drainage and flood management by addressing their engineering, agronomic, environmental, social, financial and institutional aspects. Through our flagship activities like ICID Congress, WIF, IEC Meetings, and others, we encourage dialogue and discussion on a global platform by bringing together international stakeholders together. This leads to documented knowledge creation and dissemination among the wider public. This is where PCTA comes into the picture.
The Permanent Committee for Technical Activities (PCTA) is the authority that finalizes the important streamlining curriculum, pedagogy and other relevant aspects of all our events after detailed deliberations and discussions. Keeping into consideration our four ‘Strategy Themes’ – Basin, Schemes, On-Farm, and Knowledge, they take the final call for the selection of Questions/Themes for Congresses, World Irrigation Forums, Regional Conferences, Special Sessions, Symposia, etc., and for making appropriate recommendations for action thereon.
