(5174) Cutoff drainage system, or Intercepting drainage system
A drainage system for draining seepy hillsides; pipes, or tiles are placed along the hillside to intercept the seepage water and prevent it from reaching the bottom land. The upstream high groundwater can also flow naturally into a final outlet. The bottom land water that need pumping systems are lifted, if necessary, into intercepting open drains and then flow downstream into a lower level main drain (illustrated).
