Winners of WatSave Award 2015

 

The WatSave Award were presented to:     

  • Technology – “Technology for Water Saving, Pollution Prevention and Emission Reduction of Paddy Rice” by Mr. Li Xinjian (China)
     
  • Innovative Water Management – “Crop Rotation: An Approach to Save Irrigation Water under Water Scarcity in Egypt” by Prof. Samiha Ouda and Prof. Abd-El-Hafeez-Zohry (Egypt)
     
  • Farmers’ – “Group Farming and Micro Irrigation a Way to Prosperity” by Mr. Bhagwan M. Kapse (India)

Best Paper Award 2015

 

The Wiley-Blackwell 2015 Best Paper Award was awarded to Dr. Willem F. Vlotman and Mr. Clarke Ballard for their paper titled Water, Food and Energy Supply Chains for a Green Economy, published in Special Issue: First World Irrigation Forum, April 2014, Volume 63, Issue 2, of Irrigation and Drainage – the Journal of ICID. The award was given during 66th IEC meeting on 11-16 October 2015, Montpellier, France.

 

Important Decisions taken at the 66th IEC meeting, 2015

  • The Council elected Prof. Dr. Charlotte de Fraiture (The Netherlands), Mr. Ian Makin (UK), and Prof. Abdelhafid DEBBARH (Morocco) as Vice Presidents for the period 2015-18.
     
  • The Council adopted ICID Vision 2030, including its Mission, six organizational Goals and how ICID will contribute to them. The Council set up a mechanism to chalk out an Action Plan for achieving those Goals.
     
  • Approval to set up of a Technical Support Unit (TSU) in ICID with a core group Chaired by President and consisting of Chairs – PCSO, PCTA, ASWRG, AFRWG and representatives contributing to the Capacity Development Fund as its members, and SG
    • Approval of the establishment of the Working Groups on:
    • Irrigation Development and Management (Chair: VPH Francois Brelle);
    • Water Savings in Irrigated Areas (Chair: Ehsani);
    • Capacity Development, Training and Education (VP Abdelhafid Debbarh); and
    • Task Force to Guide ICID Inputs to World Water Forum 8 (TF-WWF8)
    • Approval to establish ICID-YPF group on Linkedin portal which will be duly mentored
