1. DIRECTOR (2 posts)



  • The applicant should essentially be a Post-Graduate in Civil Engineering/ Water Resources Engineering/ Agriculture Engineering or a Doctorate or a Post-Graduate in Agricultural Sciences with a minimum of 15 years of experience related to irrigation, drainage and associated environmental and water resources management.
  • Excellent communication, writing & presentation skills, analytical and interpersonal abilities, fluency in English. 
  • Sound computer knowledge of Microsoft applications (MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint etc) and working in an e-Office environment.
  • More than five years of administrative & financial experience corresponding to or above the level of Superintending Engineer / Chief Engineer in state government or Government of India. 
  • Excellent managerial and supervisory skills including budget planning.


  • It is desirable to have about five years’ experience in research and development and reasonable record of publications and demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Experience in working with International Professional Organization is desirable.
  • Knowledge of French language will be an advantage.

The Director of the Commission will be dealing with the important topics like food policies, irrigation, drainage and water management strategies and should be knowledgeable on these issues and will have to keep himself updated on the global trends in these matters. He will work under the direction and control of the Secretary General of the Commission.

The Director should be familiar with working of international organizations in the field of agriculture water management and should be able to assist Secretary General to develop a good liaison with the global network of international organizations engaged in Irrigation and Drainage, including the National Committees and Non-Governmental agencies with whom ICID has to deal with.

Pay package

The initial start of pay for the post of Director will be at Pay Level  13, i.e. Rs.118,500/-  plus Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance, Leave Travel Concession and Medical allowance, as admissible according to ICID Staff R&R will also be payable.   Higher pay can also be considered for the right candidate depending upon qualification, experience etc.  The incumbent should be between 50-55 years which can be relaxed for a suitable candidate. The appointments will be on a contractual basis for a period of two years at a time that can continue up to the age of 62 years at the discretion of the Secretary General, ICID.
