2nd Indo-Global Irrigation Summit 2026: ICID 76th Foundation Day Celebration

The 2^nd Indo-Global Irrigation Summit 2026 was organized by the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) on 24-25 June 2026 at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi, India. as part of its 76^th Foundation Day celebrations under the aegis of Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India. The theme of the Summit was “Smart Irrigation Management”.

The Inaugural Session of the 2^nd Indo-Global Irrigation Summit 2026 was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Mr. V.L. Kantha Rao, Secretary, Ministry of Jal Shakti; Guest of Honour Dr. Salvatore Grimaldi, President, International Association of Hydrological Sciences; Guest of Honour Mr. Anupam Prasad, Chairman, Central Water Commission; President, ICID, Dr. Marco Arcieri and Secretary-General, ICID, Dr. R.K. Gupta.

The Summit was attended by over 300 delegates from various central government organisations & state water resource departments, PSUs (WAPCOS, SJVNL and NHPC), Embassies, present and past office bearers of ICID, members of National Committees on Irrigation & Drainage from Georgia, India, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Nigeria and Sri Lanka, International agencies (FAO, IAHS, ICARDA, IWMI, WWC etc.), NGOs, industry, academia and water resource experts from across the world.

An exhibition was also held to display latest technology being adopted in “Smart Irrigation Management” and other related fields of water resources development.This landmark event brought together various national and international stakeholders to explore cutting-edge smart irrigation technologies, sustainable water management, and food security strategies.
