DHAN Foundation works on poverty eradication and sustainable development through community empowerment. To date, it has served over 49.81 lakh families, with 5.89 lakh self-declaring they have “Moved out of Poverty” (MoP) as of October 2023. I am an Indian environment specialist, and in the last 11 years, I worked for the Government of India, Government of The Gambia, Government of Maharashtra (state level), an Indian Research Institute in Environmental Engineering. During this period, I developed from Junior Research Fellow to Deputy Chief Engineer, Civil and Environment Projects in India and abroad and Environmental Officer in The Gambia in West Africa. In the last 11 years, I have been an entry level technical officer transiting to mid-level technical and managerial position in different organizations, receiving orientation and collaborating with various units including research, consultancy, programming, protection and stakeholder relationship management for project delivery and management.

My experience with Environmental and Social Safeguard polices and processes began when I became involved in Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) for WAPCOS in India, South east Asia, Indo-Pacific and Africa. This job led me to the process of designing and developing ESIAs and to monitor the implementation of ESMPs for various infrastructure projects in Water Supply and Sewerage, Ports & Harbour, Buildings, Water Resources projects, Transport in India and abroad. It would be pertinent to mention that WAPCOS is State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India. Overall in WAPCOS, I had cross-cutting exposure in all project management aspects i.e. technical reporting, procurement, financial management, compliance, vigilance, with greater emphasis on environmental and water consultancy projects. I have critical learnings and exposure in mainly Environmental and Social (E&S) Framework and safeguards requirements, reporting mechanisms, climate change reporting, portfolio performance review of projects of Multi-lateral Financial Institutions (MFIs) such as World Bank, AfDB, AIIB, NDB and EIB.

Mr. Arvind Kumar Mishra did his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Jiwaji University, Gwalior, in the year 1977. The Government of India and the Royal Government of Bhutan together appointed Mr. Mishra as Managing Director, Mangdechhu Hydroelectric Project Authority in Bhutan, for the construction and commissioning of the 720 MW Mangdechhu Hydroelectric Project.

The above-mentioned hydroelectric project was constructed and commissioned by the team headed by Mr. Mishra in 7 years at a cost of Rs 5,033 crores, which is a benchmark in the SAARC region till date.

His Majesty the King of Bhutan conferred the highest civilian award to Mr. Mishra on 17th December 2023 at Thimphu for his outstanding contributions in the construction and commissioning of the Mangdechhu Project in Bhutan.

I am Biruck Nigatu Tedla, a Water Resources and Irrigation Engineer (M.Sc.) with over 19 years of extensive experience as a Design Engineer and Resident Engineer. Material Testing House (India) Ltd., has been incorporated under the companies Act 1956 with a basic objective of providing services in Mechanical and Chemical testing of various Engineering materials like cement, concrete mix design , concrete cubes , clay bricks and tiles, fly ash bricks, concrete blocks, paving blocks, concrete, terrazzo and mosaic tiles, PCC and RCC cable covers, coarse and fine aggregates, rocks and stones, ceramic , vitrified, glazed and acid resistant tiles, fly ash, GGBS, bentonite, HSD bars, G.I. pipes, Anodizing of aluminum, thickness of zinc coating, all tests of soils, bitumen tests including Marshal stability and bitumen mixes, wood and timber, performance tests of doors, plywood and laminated boards like Novapan, Eco board etc., stone ware pipes, NDT of concrete with Rebound hammer and UPV tester, concrete core cutting and core tests, water for construction and essential parameters of drinking water, paints etc

Laboratory is equipped with adequate resources to provide services for meeting customer requirements. Test equipment of the Laboratory includes Universal Testing Machine, Tensile Testing Machine, Compressive Testing Machine, Compaction factor apparatus, Flexural testing machine, Los-angles abrasion machine, complete range of IS sieves, Marshall Stability apparatus, CBR apparatus, Liquid limit device, Swell Apparatus, Triaxial shear testing machine, Rock Testing Machine, Soil Consolidation and Direct shear testers, Cone penetration tester, Core cutting machine, Sand poring apparatus, Rapid moisture meter, Penetrometer, Water bath, Muffle furnace, Hot Air Oven, Strohlein apparatus, PH and TDS meters, Digital spectrophoto meter, Flame Photometer, Bitumen extractor, Ductility machine, Autoclave, Humidity chambers, Tiles Abrasion machine, Air permeability Apparatus, Monopan & Electronic Balances, rebound hammer and UPV tester for NDT of concrete etc.
With an aim of providing accurate services, all these test equipment are calibrated in reference with master traceable to National Standards and have been calibrated directly by ‘NABL accredited laboratories’.
Material Testing House (India) Ltd., is having competent work force having Post Graduates / Graduates / Diploma Engineers in respective fields. Training is provided continuously to employees to enhance competence. All tests are conducted as per applicable National / International Standards. Library of MTH is having required literature to conduct tests including latest National / International standards.

With an aim of achieving continual improvement and enhancing customer satisfaction, Laboratory has been implementing ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 17025:2017 systems. MTH has achieved Total Quality Implementation with ISO and NABL Accreditation in the field of Mechanical and Chemical Testing which demonstrates the commitment of management to provide reliable services to the customer.

As a whole our Laboratory is the only one in Visakhapatnam to meet the testing requirements of several engineering materials under ‘one roof’.

I graduated with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering in 1983 from Diponegoro University, then taught at the UNDIP Polytechnic at that time for 2 years after participating in preparation at PEDC Bandung. Then I left the world of civil engineering for 10 years because I entered the congregation of the Sisters of Divine Providence as a nun. In 1994, I returned to teaching at Soegijapranata Catholic University until 2002. In 1997-1999, I continued my studies at IHE-Delft in the Master of Science program, Hydraulic Engineering, branch Land and Water Development. In 2002-2016 I taught at Widya Mandira Catholic University Kupang and 2016-2019 at Flore University, Ende. In 2005-2009 I continued my doctoral studies in Water Resources Engineering at Parahyangan Catholic University. In addition to teaching, I am heavily involved in KNI-ICID, HATHI and KNIBB activities, as well as drought, raw water and irrigation study projects in NTT. My thesis is about small design irrigation in East Timor, while my dissertation is related to rainwater management for agriculture in dry areas of small islands.
