Azhagesan Rangasamy, now as Member Secretary, GRMB, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Govt of India, leads to provide administrative service to Godavari River Management Board and to technical services to Godavari Basin in the states of AP & TG. Belonging to 1992 batch of UPSC Engg Services, he has vast experience in water resources development and management related activities, with a focus on technology-driven planning, hydrometry, modelling. He contributed about 25 papers to national conferences. He obtained his B.E. in Civil Engg from Bharathiyar University with distinction and then bagged his Masters in Water Resources Development & Management from IIT-Roorkee with distinction. He guided 2 Master’s in water resources. He was co-organiser of many national conferences/ workshops and organized about 30 training programs at National Water Academy, Pune and at other field units of CWC & at GRMB. Previously worked as Director, Appraisal, Monitoring, Planning & Progress, Superintending Engineer; General Manager of Farakka Barrage Project. He specialises in hydrometry, hydroinformatics, data validation, basin planning, project appraisal, office administration, procurement procedures, contract management, outsourcing of services, hydrology, modelling, training management, river water conflict resolving mechanism, etc. He is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of Institute of Engineers (India); Life Member of Indian Society of Hydraulics, Indian Water Resources Society, Indian Society of Geomatics, Indian Water Works Association. He has organised many trainings and delivered more than 300 lectures on more than 15 water resources related topics.
