Dr. Hitoshi Fakuda

After graduating from the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Tokyo in 1930, specializing in irrigation and drainage. Dr. Fakuda remained on the campus as one of the staff until retirement in 1967 after the services of 37 years to the University. Publishing more than 90 scientific papers and books. He enjoyed the opportunities of going abroad to survey irrigation and drainage works in about 70 countries and to make technical cooperation with many Asian countries. He attended ICID meetings very often since 1952 and served as a Vice President from 19 62 to 1965 as well as an advisor to FAO, Asian Development Bank often.
