Mr. Jose F. Rebelo Pinto

Mr. Jose F. Rebelo Pinto, MOE, MSICF, WAIPCN, Ground Officer of the Order of Infante D.Henrique, Commander of the Military Order of Christ, Commander of the Order of Civil Merit of Spain, Cjeva;oer de ;a Legion d`Jpmmeur, Prix des Machines Hydrauliques 1942, Prix Houdry 1956. Served at the General Direction of Hydraulic Services of the Ministry of Public Works of Portugal from 1933 to 1958, ascending to Chief Planning and designing engineer in 1945 and then to Director of the Water Power and Irrigation Department in 1950. In 1958, he was promoted as Superior Inspector of Public Works, in 1968 to the position of Inspector General and in 1971 as Vice President of the High Council of Public Works. Devoted most of his technical activity in planning, designing and construction of hydroelectric, irrigation and flood control schemes, having been more or less connected with the problems concerning all the hydraulics development in Portugal. Author of some important comprehensive plans for the development of water resources and of several technical publications and papers. Served the International Commission on Large Dams as Vice President from 1956 to 1958 and as President from 1958-1961; and the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage as Vice President from 1962 to 1965, also served as Under Secretary of the State for Public Works from 1965 to 1967.
