Brief Profile
Dr. Zanker was born on 28 January 1927 at Weilheim/Teck. And got his Diploma in Civil Engineering (Water Resources) at the University Stuttgart. He was awarded the Degree "Dr. techn." at the Technical University Graz/Ausria (Thesis on a drainage problem). He was responsible for planning and allocations of federal government investments in drainage, irrigation, flood control reservoirs, torrent control, river regulation, flood control structures, coastal protection and roads, water supply, sewerage systems and disposal in rural areas. He was author of about 100 publications, mainly on technical, scientific topics on various aspects of water resources engineering. He was the Chairman of German National Committee of ICID, and was Vice President of ICID from 1979-1982.,
