Dr. J.A. Ortiz   Fdz.-Urrutia

Dr. Ortiz was born in 1929, a graduate Agricultural Engineer (1958) and a Doctor of Agricultural Engineering (1962) from Madrid University, Spain. He served as Engineer-in-Charge of sugar beet farming (1959-1963); Engineer-in-Charge of Agronomy Application Service (1963-1967); Director of ASPA (196901972); Professor of CEDEX (1980-1990) and at University of Madrid (1988); Consultant, World Bank (1988) etc. A member of several professional societies. Dr. Ortiz has held various offices in the Spanish National Committee, ICID and AERYD, etc. He was Chief Engineer in the Ministry of Public Works, Madrid. He was Vice President of ICID from 1991-1994.
