Dr. (Mrs.) Fatma Abdel Rahman Attia

Dr. Fatma Abdel-Rahman Attia, born 1945, and obtained her B.Sc. M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Cairo University, Egypt with specialisation in groundwater hydrology. She worked as Research Assistant (1966-72), Irrigation/Drainage Design Engineer (1974-1978); and Senior Research Engineer and Head of Department at Research Institute for Ground Water (RIGW) (1985-1990). She has been involved in several projects in collaboration with bilateral agencies and has acted as Advisor and Consultant to international organizations. Presently Dr. Attia is Director of RIGW and Director of Dutch-Egyptian Project on environmental management of groundwater resources. She was Vice President of ICID from 1995-1998.
