Brief Profile
Born in 1941, obtained his B.Sc. Civil Engineering Degree from Assiout University (Egypt) in 1963 and Ph.D. (Civil Engineering) Degree from the University of Aston in Birmingham (UK) in 1979. During his career he has worked with the General Authority for Rehabilitation and Development of Agricultural Projects, Egypt (1963-75); Mohamed Al-Sabek, Architects, Planners and Consulting Engineers, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (1983-85); Drainage Research Institute, Egypt (1980-91); and Water Management and Irrigation Systems Research Institute, Egypt (1991-93). He has a long experience as a Consultant, in which capacity he has worked for various projects in Egypt, Nubaria, Yemen, Libya, Kenya, Oman, etc. He has also acted as an Expert for WMO and FAO. Presently Dr. El Quosy is Director, Water Management and Irrigation Systems Research Institute, Egypt since 1993 and Deputy Chairman of National Water Research Center, Ministry of Public Works and Water Resources, Egypt since 1996. He is Vice President of ICID from 1998-2001.
