Mr. P. Danel

Mr. Pierre Danel (1902-1966) was the recipient of many honors and decorations including Chevalier de la Le`gion d''Honneur and Chevalier du Marite Agricole. He was member of the Comit technique de la Society Hydrotechnique de France, Society des ingenieurs civils, Association technique maritime et aeronautique, Society scientifique du Dauphine and of amongst numerous other professional bodies. He was also President of the International Association of Hydraulic Research and ICID. He undertook the study of the erosion of the Suez Canal and of hydraulic problems linked with the management of the Aswan High Dam. He played a major role in the technical development of turbines and hydraulic valves. He also invented simple and ingenious equipment for flow distribution and water level monitoring in irrigation canals.
