Director (Technical), ICID, New Delhi, India and 25th Congress Coordinator
Er. Balasaheb Anantrao Chivate, joined ICID as Director (Technical) on 1 February 2019. Er. Chivate has more than three decades of professional experience in the field of land drainage, irrigation and water resources management. He pursued his diploma in irrigation water management from Water And Land Management Institute (WALMI), Aurangabad, India and received his MIE from the Institution of Engineers (India) Kolkata. In 1998, he obtained his M.E. (Irrigation Water Management) from the University of Roorkee, now Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, India and is also a Fellow member of the Institution of Engineers (India), Kolkata and the Indian Water Resources Society, Roorkee. He has worked as faculty member with WALMI, Aurangabad for more than 10 years and has imparted training on irrigation water management to farmers and engineers. Also he worked as guest/ visiting professor for several institutes / universities. He has got several technical papers published in various journals. Also presented several papers at numerous national and international meetings and also served as expert reviewer. Currently he is a member of the Editorial Board if ICID Journal “Irrigation and Drainage” since 2019. He received the Best Paper Award during the 26th Indian Engineering Congress in Bengaluru, India (2011). Er. Chivate has sound knowledge and expertise in various aspects of survey, research, irrigation water management, water accounting, benchmarking of irrigation projects and has also worked extensively with the State Water Resource Department, Maharashtra, India.
