Brief Profile

Ms. Esther Oyeronke Oluniyi currently serves as the Director of the Irrigation and Drainage Dept. at the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation Abuja, where she has demonstrated exemplary leadership, technical expertise, and a profound commitment to sustainable water and agricultural development.  Her professional journey of over three decades is marked by outstanding contributions to the planning, implementation and management of irrigation and drainage systems across Nigeria.  She held various positions in the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation since 1991 to till date.  She was deeply involved in the implementation of several irrigation projects, including River Basin Irrigation Planning Study, Design and Development of large, medium and small scale irrigation projects, promotion of gender / youth participation in irrigated agriculture in Transforming Irrigation Management in Nigeria (TRIMING) Project, overseeing the preparation of Sustainable Power and Irrigation for Nigeria (SPIN) Project, which were World Bank sponsored projects.

Engr. Oluniyi holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Agricultural Engineering and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Honours) in Agricultural Engineering. She also earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Hydraulic Engineering, along with a Postgraduate Advanced Professional Training Certificate in Planning and Managing Water Resources, awarded in 1999.

Actuellement assure le poste de Directrice du Département de l'irrigation et du drainage au sein du Ministère fédéral des ressources en eau et de l'assainissement à Abuja, où elle a fait preuve d'un leadership exemplaire, d'une expertise technique et d'un engagement profond en faveur du développement durable de l'eau et de l'agriculture. Son parcours professionnel de plus de trois décennies est marqué par des contributions exceptionnelles faites à la planification, à la mise en œuvre et à la gestion des systèmes d'irrigation et de drainage à travers le Nigeria. A assuré divers postes au sein du Ministère fédéral des ressources en eau et de l'assainissement depuis 1991. Etait fortement impliquée dans la mise en œuvre de plusieurs projets d'irrigation, notamment l'étude de planification de l'irrigation des bassins fluviaux, la conception et le développement des projets d'irrigation à grande, moyenne et petite échelle, la promotion de la participation des femmes et des jeunes à l'agriculture irriguée dans le cadre du projet TRIMING (Transforming Irrigation Management in Nigeria), et la surveillance de la préparation du projet SPIN (Sustainable Power and Irrigation for Nigeria), tous deux financés par la Banque mondiale.
Titulaire d'une maîtrise en génie agricole et d'un baccalauréat ès sciences en génie agricole. A obtenu un diplôme de troisième cycle en génie hydraulique, ainsi qu'un certificat de formation professionnelle avancée de troisième cycle en planification et gestion des ressources en eau, décerné en 1999.
